This is our second year traveling in the Tab and the sixth year of our National Park quest. This year the Tab has been on 7 trips, including a longer trip to North Carolina. We spent 26 nights and drove a total of 3,834 miles. We camped in 3 states and visited 3 state parks. For five of the seven trips we had family members along. We went with friends on another trip. Camping makes for great memories.
When we visit an NPS site we have a couple of traditions. We make sure to get our stamp in our Passport to Your National Parks book.
We also add it to the list in my bullet journal and scratch it off our National Park Map and Georgia State Parks map hanging on the wall in our office.
National Parks
In 2023 we visited 18 National Park Sites (NPS). Since we started our journey to visit all 423 NPS sites in 2018, we have visited a total of 76. In 2023 we completed the NPS sites in Alabama, North Carolina, and the Virgin Islands.
The Virgin Islands trip was meant to be a celebration of finishing up the Southeast Region, but Mississippi went back on the incomplete list when a new NPS site (Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley NM) was added this year.
Georgia State Parks
We have visited 16 of the 63 Georgia State Parks since 2020, including three in 2023. A highlight this year was our trip with our friends Randy and Nell
Blog Posts
I have enjoyed documenting our travels on Bishop’s Next Move since October 2021. In 2023 I made 12 posts for a total of 34 posts since the blog’s inception.
Goals
We have a long trip planned for Maine in 2024 and hope to finish up the states of Maine, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
