Chattahoochee Bend State Park

Our maiden voyage with our 2022 T@b 400 Boondock teardrop camper was a two night trip to Chattahoochee Bend SP. Our months of preparation paid off, and the first trip in “Pe@rl” was a success. We cooked several meals, set up all of the accessories that we have collected in the past several months, and were relieved when everything worked.

Chattahoochee Bend is a fairly new State Park (opened in 2011), and it is the fifth largest state park in Georgia at 2,910 acres. It is meant for outdoor activities, including paddling, biking, hiking, and geocaching. We hiked part of the 2.5 mile long Riverside Trail the next morning. It was well-maintained, mostly flat, and had wonderful river views.

We saw deer tracks and evidence of beaver activity (see the beaver chew marks on the picture below).

I love all of the seasons, but winter holds a clean, sparse look that is beautiful in its own way. It is a respite that offers a time of reflection and reset prior to the glorious rush of color and activity in the spring.

Two years ago, we decided to focus on our travel activities on the National Park sites (NPS) and the Georgia State Parks.  We have since visited 38 of the 423 NPS sites, and 12 of the 53 Georgia State Parks.

We think that the new T@b 400, Pe@rl, will propel us toward this goal. In addition to documenting our travels on this blog, we also enjoy collecting the NPS stamps for our National Park Passport book along with stickers and pins for each park.

On this trip, we were excited to purchase the new Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites Passport book to document our visits to the Georgia parks. It is a fun way to memorialize each trip.
